Anne Thoroughgood liaises with business regarding the wide range of professional development,scholarships and internships that are on offer here at NMIT.
She also engages with industry and business in regards to how NMIT can meet changing educational needs of businesses in the Top of the South.
Anne has a wide range of experience from business owner, employer, farmer, teacher, author, lifecoach and mother of four sons. She successfully ran two childcare centres in Marlborough employing 12 staff and winning the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence award for service. She ran courses for mothers raising teenage sons in Nelson for 3 years and has a book published for mothers.
Anne is the coordinator for Young Enterprise Scheme in the Top of the South, whereby year 12 and 13 secondary students start a company and run a business whilst still in school.
“I love being in business, it’s all about engaging and relating with people and that makes it wildly unpredictable, fabulous fun, and sometimes if all the ducks line up, - a little bit profitable.”
Anne is involved as a volunteer including;
- Business Mentor with Business Mentors NZ
- Paremata Flats reserve in Cable Bay ( Tree planter )
- Usher at the Theatre Royal.
