Originally from Murihiku (Southland), with Irish and Dutch whakapapa (ancestry), Saskia now calls Tasman home.
She is part of NMIT’s Wellbeing Team within Learner Success, working alongside our social workers, Hayley(external link) and Robyn(external link), and shares her time across the Richmond and Nelson campuses.
“My role at NMIT is Kaihāpai Rangatahi – Youth Worker,” she says.
“I work alongside young people to navigate their safe transition into adulthood, with a focus on wellbeing as my core mahi.”
Saskia brings broad experience across youth development, education and community leadership, including governance, tertiary tutoring at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, outdoor instruction, youth advisory work, and wellbeing advocacy, alongside her role as a mum.
She describes her approach as strength-based and mana-enhancing, grounded in quality relationships.
“I strive to align both fun and productivity into my mahi,” she says.
